Angel Layout

Yep, another night that I can't sleep. At least I'm productive when the insomnia hits! So here's another page for my baby girl's album. I was inspired by a layout by Syd_Vicious on the Cricut message boards. Her layout is fabulous, but I tried to get a little close to fabulous:) I don't have the storybook font (which I want so badly!) so I just welded the Jasmine font with swirls from AE and made my own frilly font for the word 'Angel'. I think it looks nice. Add some blingy butterflies and its done! My baby girl really is an angel. She's the light in my heart. How is it that 9 years later she still melts my heart and makes me smile? She's just a God-given gift.

Coffee!

Okay, so I just finished the last of the cards I plan to send off for the charity fundraiser. Here it is. I made a set of 4 identical cards, with a simple design inside and no saying. I figure it is a 'many occasion' card that way.

A friend...

I love this hobby of mine. I've found a way to reach out to others, and its a way that comes right from my heart. Last night I made a card for someone who recently received a frightening medical diagnosis. This is one of those situations where I felt so much concern but I had no way to express it. I sat down last night and worked on a card that took me 2 hours to make. (I'm sure most of you more experienced scrappers could have whipped it out in a quarter of the time!) I felt like I was sending something from my heart and in the end, I felt better. I will pray for this person and send my love from far away, but this is as close as I can get to actually DOING something to help. My heart truly hurts for her. So at the end of reading this, please say a quick prayer for healing and a quick recovery for my friend. Thanks so much!

More cards

Okay, I had so much fun with the card below that I had to make more. I'm sending these to a lady from the cricut message board who posted that she is need of donated hand-made cards for a charity fundraiser. Here are my cards!

Embossing

I made my first embossing project today! Its a very simple card. I used an ivory cardstock plain card. I then glued on a pretty green paper for a background. I used an ivory paper and rounded the corners then stamped on a decorative tree, sprinkled the embossing powder and heated. Now it looks wet and has a raised gloss which is so cool. The pictures don't do it justice. I also stamped a border to the ivory center. I used a thank you stamp and green ink and cut it out. I secured it with 3 dimensional tape and voila! I think it has a very nice vintage look. Its much easier than I had expected.

Christian!

Yea for more locker talk layouts! I love this cartridge. I just made Christian's page for his spring school picture. He's so adorable... and I'm so biased:) Everything here is from the LT cartridge and I made many mistakes. But it's all good! I love the way this layout turned out.

Still learning!

Locker Talk cartridge came in! So I started playing with it yesterday and boy did I mess up. I began with the school house and I used a double sided brown paper. When I peeled the cut school house buildings off of the mat, I accidently reversed them so I used the wrong sides. I couldn't figure out why they weren't fitting on the background so I made cuts and adjustments as needed. DUH! Turn them over and they would work, but nope, I cut. So my school house doesn't cover the entire expanse of green and it looks like there is grass growing between the building when it should be just one building. Oh well. Practice and learn. The picture is of my nephew Andrew. He lives in Texas and we miss him terribly!

Baby Stina

This month I've been scrapping like crazy, but not taking pics like I should. Here are some pictures of my daughter's baby album. She's 9 now, but the album I made when she was an infant was in desperate need of help. Not only were my attempts at scrapping lame way back then, but the album itself was overloaded and falling apart. The pictures above are done with my Cricut. I used Happily Ever After for the fairies and Jasmine for the words on the first picture. The second was done with Happily Ever After. I think the third was mostly Accent Essentials, although I may be wrong and its Plantin Schoolbook. Not sure. The final layout was done with Jasmine font and I can't remember what the flowers are from. Possibly A Garden of Words, but its been a month since I scrapped these layouts. I have 14 cartridges now, so keeping them all straight in my head is IMPOSSIBLE! :) Let me know what you think. Oh, and the pictures were taken by my 9 year old so they are a bit crooked. She's such a wonderful helper though, so she'll probably be taking many more for me.
